What is the Paleo diet and what supplements to take

Also called the "caveman diet," Paleo is based on emulating the diet of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. It includes whole, unprocessed foods that resemble what they actually look like in nature. Since our ancestors were genetically the same as we are today, we should be able to consume the same foods they did for centuries without being affected by diseases like obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Several studies have proven the paleo diet can lead to significant weight loss along with other major health improvements. The diet consists of eating meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, and healthy fats/oils. You'll want to avoid processed foods, sugar, soft drinks, grains, most dairy products, legumes, artificial sweeteners, vegetable oils, margarine and trans fats.

Many people on the paleo diet don't think they need supplements because they're already consuming whole, nutritious and real foods. That couldn't be further from the truth! Eating enough micro-nutrients is essential when on any diet and some supplements should actually be taken just for better overall health.
